The title says it all. Looks like mine gave up the ghost. I'm almost all stock - want something that fits well, lasts a long time and delivers the goods.
Duralast Gold from Autozone, 720 cca, 8 year warranty- $69.99 + refundable $8.00 core charge.
I just bought one last week and the case looked exactly like the Sears Diehard case except the top was yellow. I usually buy Sears Diehard batteries but, decided to get the Duralast because Sears automotive is always busy and I didn't feel like waiting.
The Duralast Gold replaced an 8 month old AC Delco because of a leaking positive battery terminal.
I make all of those for a living, and i can tell you they are all the same, except the sears gold, which has a heavier strap in the case connecting the groups. The only difference, in the rest is just the case. Randy

randy, does that include the wal-mart brand? I just got an all yellow wally-world battery, it had better ratings than the current battery and also carried a decent warranty.
I put a WalMart cheapo in my race car trailer. After fully charging it with a good battery charger, it lasted one week ( dropped to 9.5 volts).
Took it back, got another new one, put it in the Silverado to drive around for a week and charge it. Put it back in the trailer and it dropped to 10 volts in a week and a half. It wasn't hooked up so it couldn't drain. Took it back to Wallymart, got another one. This on holds a charge for 2 weeks before dropping to 10.5 volts.
Wouldn't put one of these in my Corvettes.

Seriously though... I use nothing but Walmart Everstarts. They have the same warranty as the Optima batteries at a third of the cost. They are much easier to deal with than any other company too.
I had a sears battery in a previous car. It took a crap on me and sears wouldn't replace it because of my 'high power' 100 watt aftermarket stereo!!!
I had a Walmart battery take a crap and somehow ruined my ignition... Walmart gave me a new battery and the corporate office reimbursed me for the new MSD box and wires!!! It was over $400 in items I replaces and some of them just because... but Walmart paid for it all!!!
You can't beat that service!!!
I don't know how you convinced Walmart to pay for consequential damages! I can't believe they did any more than replace the battery. That must have been a fluke!

Randy, does this also include Interstate and Optima?? They sure seem a whole LOT better!

Surely it's more than just a placebo effect.
Interstate is a yes, and optima is a whole different animal. Even though our company makes the optima, we do not make them at our plant. I can't even get a employee discount on the optima, even though they go through our shipping dept,,,

I walked into the store in San Antonio TX and asked the service manager to help me. I explained the problem and showed them pics of the damage. It was on a 67 show car mustang that had won a few trophies. I explained the situation and he called the district manager. The only trouble they gave me was that the store manager, district manager, and claims manager wanted to come over to my parents house to take photographs of the car, the damage, and document that condition the car was in.
A week later I had a check in the mail with an appology letter. That was more than I had asked for. I didn't expect them to reimburse me for that... but they did on their own accord.
