my windshield accidently broke.... I called one place and got a quote @ $580! They said b/c there is a $250 trim piece around it! This is also a safety lite brand, not a gm (I was referred here by chevy dealer). They say it meets oem specs. I did find another quote for $380, but you gotta wonder "are they skimping somewhere?" They also said it was a similair brand, but not GM. Also, they can get gm windshields, but would have to call me back with that quote. At this point I decieded to use insurance so it will only be $100 (my deductible).
Anyone have any good or bad experiences getting your windshield done? I've heard a couple stories of it taking a few tries to get it right.

I had a rock hit mine, and just got it replaced a few weeks ago. Total cost was about $650 I think (Cost me $0.00 'cause of insurance w/$0 glass deductible in MA).
The weatherstripping that goes up the a-pillars, and over the top is the $250 peice.
The OEM glass are LOF, PPG, and one other one that I cannot remember that was just added recently to the list. I got an LOF piece.
Check it out here....

Had mine done copla months ago. About $250 for the weather strip and $200 for an OEM windshield plus tax came to about $500.
Be sure you get one with the same tint as current.

I think there's only a few companies that manufacture auto glass for all the car companies. LOF and PPG are two major ones. As long as it meets OEM spec you should be fine.
My original and current windshields are both LOF. BTW, both the insurance co and glass place said you must use new GM weatherstripping, no cheap stuff.

just had mine done a week ago by safetylite, they were a day late and forgot the new weatherstripping. makes it tough to take the car if there is a chance of rain since you cant put the roof on. might want to remind them to bring that with them. not sure of cost, was an insurance job.

I had mine done about a year ago and I believe it was around $250. Keep trying local auto glass stores. The dealer and a number of local glass shops quoted me numbers over $500. I believe the glass was different on ZR 1's but I'm not sure.

The other thing is that C4 windshield glass prices dropped dramatically just a couple of years ago. It was much much more, but now just the glass itself is about $250 I think.

Had mine done a few months ago. Cost me 50 (deductible) and 250.00 for additional weather strip. Insurance covers the 200.00 pillars but the previous owner tried to stop a leak with silicon, had to tear the weather strip off to get the window out.
Total cost 750.00

I found someone to do it yesterday for $200. They said they usually reuse the seal unless it is really dryrotted. Since it was just $200 I deceided not to claim it (I have a $100 deductible.) This glass place was highly recommended by the Volvo shop I go to. Anyway, they tried to fix it today and broke their cutting tool, so their coming back tomorrow. I really hope it doesn't leak. If so, I'm gonna file an insurance claim get reimbursed and get it fixed right.
