OK, all of a sudden, my horns do not work. When I leave my car and the alarm arms, no honking. And it doesn't work with the button either.

Also, I'm getting some crackling from my speakers, like they have bad connections.

AND the chime for the ignition sounds soooo bad, like it's dying, but struggling to stay alive.

I have a feeling that there is a bad ground some where. I'm I in the ball park? Has anyone had these symptoms before? Where are the grounds in the engine compartment?

This all started at the same time AND after I had the AC system converted to 134a and recharged. Could the mechanic of knocked something loose or disconnected something and forgot about it?

I'm going out, right now, to see if anything is disturbed or disconnected. I'm hoping it's a simple bad ground and I can find it.

Please, I could use any ideas right about now.

Thanks,

Tim,
A quick check I would do is to jumper 12VDC directly to the horn postive. If that makes your horn sound, your ground is OK. If that doesn't work, then jumper a ground directly to the horn negative and try the horn button. If that makes your horn sound, then your ground is not OK. Hope that helps.

Sounded like a possible bad ground to me. Let us know what you found.

Check your 15 A theft fuse. Can you hear your horn relay click when you push on the horn button? Also, there is a fusible link from the battery to the theft fuse and this should be checked by measuring the voltage at the theft fuse. No voltage, then you have an open fusible link. Check horns as mentioned by white93vette by putting 12 v on each horn and also jumping the horn ground to a known good ground. Check the horn button by measuring the black wire on the horn relay. Voltage should be 12 v horn button not activated and 0 volts with the horn button activated. Good Luck.

I just experienced the very same problem with my horn and problems with my keyless entry. The dealership took my dash apart to check the wiring and said something shorted my wiring harness. (Possibly the ignition switch>?)I had a large area of the wiring harness that melted and I didn't even know. I had the complete wiring harness replaced. Expensive repair mind you. Good luck.

I don't have any issues with the keyless entry.

Any ideas of the ground locations in the engine compartment?

New problem...

My interior light on the passenger side, by the seat belt anchor, flickers on and off all the time now. I removed the bulb to prevent the battery from being drained.

WTF is wrong with my baby???

Can someone, anyone, help me out?
