This should be a simple question but did all 89's come as l98's. How could you tell?

YEs all 89's had L98's.. Assuming your motoro is still stock.. you will have 4 tubes (2 pairs) on each side of the intake.. also known as Runners

EDIT= With except of the Prototype ZR1's all 89 vettes sold to public were L98's
