I'm not sure if the cats out of the bag yet - but in case not:
Coming the beginning of next year will be a mod that essentially changes the fireing order of the ZZ4. Dyno tests on the system show an increase from 350 HP to 438 HP. Then you start adding your trick parts and you've got a fire breather!
Just a heads up if your looking for big HP increases for reasonable money!!

I heard the change in fireing order alone is only good for 12-15hp in a 350 and 20-25 in a stroker...I'm sure they changed other things as well.
\ie:duration/lift etc...
I beleive you are referring to the cams that fire the cylinders outside of the 18436572. The exact term I can;t recall. Theyve been around for many years. They seem to make sense, but I never researched them that much. Plenty of hardcore racers here are probably in the know. Anyone?
When we mention changing the firing order that is done with a cam change not just by swapping plugwires around..
I hope you're not talking to me. I'm familiar with the 4-7 firing order swap cam. It SOMETIMES gives as much a 5-15 hp. Sometimes, NOT! If someone expects or claims an improvement from 350 to 438 hp with THAT swap, they need to see me about my bridge.
Well if the cam timing changes so that the firing order changes then it would also take wires and crank change too, right.
In such case, why did the General chose the current SBC firing order over the other possibilities...could it have been a compromise between performance and reliability??
Changing the firing order for performance has been around since the 60's cd roper(the madd professor)SP? started it and then bill"grumpy"jenkins caught on to it also
