Are the TPI main parts (plenum, runners, and intake) the same on a LTI as they are on L98 and if not what is the biggest difference? I can get this from an L98 but I want to build toward an LTI. That is why I ask.

Thanks, David

The LT1 uses a ram style manifold which is like a stubby tunnel ram used on the cars of yesteryear. You can't just slap a LT1 manifold onto a L98 longblock because the LT1 uses a reverse flow cooling system plus the ingition system is different (HEI vs Optispark). You pretty much should stick with what the longblock is. L98 longblock, use the L98 topend.

You can however use a TPIS mini-ram intake which is a cross between L98 intake and LT1 intake. That is the runner lenght is between these two so there is decent torque in mid-range and the curve extends higher that for the L98.
