I have just started hearing a popping noise in my front end... Any ideas on what this would be...I am thinking maybe a tie rod end or something..... What do you guys think?

Thanks
Pete

Perhaps the Rack and Pinion steering or the power steering pump? Open the hood and have someone move the wheel for you.

Can you tell us more about it?
Does it only happen when turning? Going over bumps? going over bumps and turning, going slow/fast etc...?

Mine made a popping sound when turning the steering wheel at low speeds (like pulling into the garage).

David-F tightened up a couple bolts on the p/s rack for me and the noise went away.

Just changed the shocks on my '92. did not get the lower bolts on the passenger side tight. Had a popping sound over any and all bumps. re-tightened the bolts, all gone...

seems like it only happens at low speeds and turning... I will have to pay closer attention to... I don't know about the bumps.

Thanks to all

I just noticed you're from Atlanta too. Which part? If you're close to me (Roswell) I can take a listen and tell you if the noise you have is the same thing I had.

I just live down by Perimeter Mall. Where are you in Roswell? I used to live up there off Holcomb Bridge Rd? Maybe you could help me threw a few issues.....

I saw you were from Roswell last night too..

David has done all my work on the car since I have had it... Major items anyway...

I live off of highway 9 (roswell road) just south of where it crosses the river.
I see your zip code is in your nickname. [img]http]//www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/smile.gif[/img]
I used to work in that zipcode-- you know where the GoldKist building is?

hmm, My '90 made a pop when turning in parking lots, and going over speed bumps. David F told me to check the drivers side rack mount bolt. Sure enough it was loose, tightened it and the pop was gone. I think that is a 15mm bolt.
