Yes, too big a TB can cause tip-in problems. I believe your TB is 48mm, same as on L98. L98 injectors are rated at 22# @43.5psi, I'm not sure if yours are the same.
Look at this combo: '91 L-98, Flat top pistons, balanced, cam: I don't know what would be good here, advise? , AFR 195 heads 64 or 76CC, roller rockers, TPI ported and polished, bigger injectors maybe? and what size TB. I was hoping for 400HP, but if not what can I do to get it there or more HP.
With a '91 L98 just have your stock #113 heads reworked. Pocket poring, big valves, valve job, ProMagnums, etc and they will flow to over 400HP.
I would get a BBK 52mm TB for that setup. I would suggest the TPIS mini-ram for the intake.
You will need long tube headers and maybe true duals also. A guy in SW Fl got his '87 L98 into 12.0s on the motor this way. I heard he recently broke into the 11s.
For sure to lose that "frisbee" on the water pump pulley.
Since you have the SD intake you will need a chip.
Of course you'll need gears and tranny work (if an auto).
I'm sending you some data on a '90 L98 build up. Though it doesn't go where you want to, the cam selections may be useful.
