I was curious, how does the LT4 compare to an LS1 Vette in the 1/4 mile? Also, how does the LT1 compare to the LS1 & LT4.

Just checked the Car and Driver web site's archives and they are interesting.
LT1 (tested in 1995)
0-60 5.1 sec
1/4 13.7@103 MPH
LT4 (CD observed the same numbers)
0-60 5.1 sec
1/4 13.7@103 MPH
LS1 (1998 Hardtop version)
0-60 4.9 sec
1/4 13.2@113 MPH
Closer than I thought. Hope this helps!

5.1 for the 95 LT1 is pretty optimisitic isn't it? I thought it was more like 5.5-5.6.
Am I wrong?
I have a 96 LT1 auto with the 3.07 performance axle. Pretty much stock except for the open air lid. What is the "best guess" 0-60 time for this setup?
Thanks
Kevin

Shawn,
Did you by chance mix your numbers up ????
You are showing the LT1 & LT4 the same across the board .!?!?.
Just checking

I took the numbers from the CD article. They also noted that the numbers were identical too. Might have been because the car was new and tight.

Search for a test done, LT-1 vs. LT-4...both stock... I think the LT-4 hit 12.84. The LT-4 should be able to handle an LS-1, I don't know who is driving those car and driver cars... 13.7 for an lt-4 is embarrassing...
Your lt-4 should be high 12s.
As far as ls-1... I believe they are low 13s, but I'm not such an expert on those...

I guess I should be "happy" with the #s I get from my 96 LT1 Automatic..
Yes I have a few "drive train" mods.. but the motor hasn't been touched..
BTW I checked my 0-60 with a G-tech (for what its worth, not much IMO) but it said 4.2 (That was at a drag strip with drag radials)

It is well know that GM had to overrate the 345 HP LS1 and underrate the 330 HP LT4 (marketing 101, who is going to buy a new car that is slower then the previous year?)
In reality the LT4 will take a 345 HP LS1 consistently. 1/4 miles range from upper 12's to low 13's and 0-60 MPH is between 4.7 and 5.0 seconds. Now that the LS1 has been fixed and turning 350 HP it may be a little more in line with the LT4.
