I have a problem with the camber setting on my 87. It is wearing out the inside of the tire. The mechanic at the alignment shop said that it could cost $ 500 to get the right side to line up properly. He said that it need special shims to get everything to work right. Does anyone have in input on this as the mechanic also said that is a common problem on the C4's.

Thanks

Camber is adjustable already. Two big bushings on either side of the diff when looking in from the rear.
Have your mech give you a parts list and post it back here. We'll make sure your not screwed.
C-3's were kind of a pain to adjust, C-4's are a piece of cake. If the "mechanic" you talked to doesn't know the difference you had best find a different guy!

Are you sure you have it right? Maybe he's saying it's your wheel bearing that's worn out, that may cost roughly $500 (with labour) and there is a special shim between the axle and bearing. Surely any mechanic can see how you adjust the camber on a Vette and would never say $500 for such a simple job unless parts are worn.
