Default 93 LT1 Roller Rockers

I plan to put roller rockers in my 93. Are there any other 93 owners that are running roller rockers already? Are there any problems with the Knock sensor? ...excessive noise being picked up? I know that when they went to roller rockers in the LT4, they made a prom to desensitize the sensor pick up, but that prom can?t be used in a 93. So, I'm wondering how a 93 LT1 reacts to roller rockers.
Thanks,

My 92 seems very happy with em. I haven't heard of anyone having trouble in our year LT-1's , with them installed properly.

I'd replace the springs with 1.6RR in an LT1. The LT4 springs are good and low cost.

You know there are 1.7's available and they'll give you even more power than the 1.6's............ Of course new springs are an absolute must, as well as 7/16 rocker studs and guide plates. If you're interseted let me know and I'll tell you more.

Nathan, I assume you are talking about the Comp Cams Hi-Tech rockers?
I want to use the 1.7's in my cam swap with the parts you mentioned my major concern is the fit under the valve covers. Any info?

Actually I'm referring to the Scorpion 1.7 rockers, they are a lot lighter than the comp cams rockers. They are also larger than the comp cams rockers. Clearance under the valve covers kinda depends on what year car you've got. I don't know if they will clear the 92's at all with any amount of modification. They'll clear Z-28 covers with no mods, and they'll clear 93-95 covers with little modification. Best I can do is give you a picture and you make up your own mind if they'll fit

Thank you.
Just as a question, how was the size and fitment comparison between your scorpion 1.7 RR's and the Hi-Tech 1.8 RR's you tried?

back when i first bought the car this was one of my first mods. go with a decent brand, put on some new replacement LT1 springs while ur at it.. and it will revv so much nicer up top again. to gain the most just take out your knock sensors and wrap a little teflon tape around the threads.

The 1.8's were actually a smaller rocker but they were wider at the fulcrum bearing, which made me have to modifiy my valve covers to fit. The extra supports I had to cut out created a very ugly oil leak. I'd say this is only really a problem if you're running Z-28 valve covers like I am.

LT1 springs are near crush with 1.6 rockers. I'd go with the LT4 springs.

Hey, while we're on this topic...Does the LT-1 heads have screw in rocker studs? Or are they pinned? Or just pressed in?

Thanks

They are screw in studs, very easily replaced if needed.

Thanks,
My '93 had no problems when I had the 1.6's in there, although the prom was changed from stock to hypertech, I doubt very much that this was important. There was more noise being detected by knock sensor than stock, but I attributed that to the hypertech being a POS.

I have the 1.6 rr's for sale if you want them--$120 shipped. I unfortunately could not use them as part of my heads/cam change last year.
