Anyone else having problems with the replacement clutch slave cylinders? I got them....yes 2 now, through my local GM Dealership. I have no idea who makes the pos's but I was out replacing my hydraulic line this morning (because I was pretty sure that's what was leaking) Well after getting that installed, voila....still a leak. I even inspected it while it was out and everything looked good. It looks as though it will be slave #3 for me, all within the last 9 months.
GM is damn lucky that these have a one year warranty.
I agree that GM is having problems with the slave cylinders. I decided that my hydraulic clutch system was under performing in May. I changed the entire system...master cylinder, slave and feed line. On the first test of the system after installation, the actuator arm on the slave cylinder broke!! The piece that broke off went into the clutch housing. I was able to retrieve it after several hours of fishing with a magnet. GM warranted the part and I installed a second slave cylinder. After just a few hundred miles that one leaked. GM warranted the part and labor to install a replacement. So, since May and counting the original slave cylinder, I've had 4 slave cylinders on my car!!
Well, I'm calling the dealership on Monday morning but I'm hesitant to install another one of their "replacements". Warranty or not. Does anyone know off the top of their heads if places like Corvette Central or Ecklers are supplying the same units? If it's a different source I may just take the hit and go that route.
and that is too bad... because the ZF doc recommends changing to clutch master and slave to keep the ZF in good condition. I have been wanting to change mine, but never got around to it. Now I'm happy I never got around to changing it!!!
I replaced my slave about 6 months a go. First I callled the dealer and they did not have it in stock. $149. I went online and order the part from Autozone. paid $89 so far no problem what so ever.

Were there any markings or info as to who manufactured it? The one's I got from the dealership had none. Not even a piece of paper inside the box.
I would suspect that gmpartsdirect would be getting them from the same source as all GM dealerships. Autozone, maybe not. I don't think Autozone delivers to Canada, but I'll check that one out just in case.
So I call the parts departement this morning and no problem, they'll rush order me a new slave for tomorrow morning.......but won't warrant it without me taking the car into their service dept. to make sure that the unit was installed right the first time. I then call the service dept. to see how much they plan on dinging me for this "service".............$150-200 CDN. I'm like WTF, what kind of racket is this?
I should have known better than to have ordered the part from the dealership in the first place. What .
I haven't decided how I'm going to handle this yet.
The part is covered by GMs 12 month "parts warranty". If this part is in fact bad, you should be able to get the warranty claim processed by a local GM dealers service department.
The dealer's service department will need a copy of the invoice, the VIN for the vehicle the part is for, and the current mileage on the vehicle, to process the claim. They may also need to verify that the part is bad by diagnosing the part on the vehicle. END Q
Bought my replacement about two years ago from Advanced Auto PArts. Looked like it was from the same mfgr as the original. So far no problems. The cost was about $90.00 U.S. The dealer wanted $149.U.S.

I was thinking of having mine replaced as well... Shifting has gotten a little bit more notchy... Hmmm, maybe I should think about having the dealer do it then since they also warranty the labor for replacing parts...
