I was wondering if you could answer some questions I have with the TPIS cat back exhaust. I removed the stock exhaust in 15 minutes and am having a hard time getting the TPIS exhaust installed.

The flowmaster mufflers are # 430512L & R. They seems to be longer than the stock mufflers.

Can you tell me what size your mufflers are ? Are they close to the rear tires ? Do you use the stock muffler hangers ?

Thanks for any help.

Vic

My TPIS Flows are about 17"Lx4"Dx10"W.

As I remember Denny of Mufflex had some trouble too because they were longer than stock, so he pulled the rear hangers and reversed the mounting orientation. He also did a little cutting and welding on the connecting pipes.

Thanks for the feedback. I couldn't install the exhaust, I am putting the stock one back on. My mufflers are the same size you mentioned.

Are you going to be at Etown on Sat ? I should be there for the Vette challenge. I'd like to check out your exhaust setup to see where the modifications are made.

TPIS claims this is a bolton exhaust, I don't see how this just bolt's on.

Vic'89, so far things are looking good for being at the Corvette Challenge this Sat. Look for the only '35th in the lanes.

I just finished some valve train work but had broken the Alt-to-AIR pump bracket during disassembly last week. Contemporary Corvette is shipping one today so looks like she'll be ready for the road by mid week.

It seems like that TPIS system doesn't just "drop in". I think once you see Denny's work that you may decide on a trip to his shop near Trenton, NJ. It took him only about 3hrs (and ~$300) to fab/install the front Y-pipe, install the cat and mod/install the TPIS cat-back. Plus it's all welded from the cat back.

Still I like the TPIS system with those huge 3 1/2" to 3" pipes, not much back pressure there.
