I honestly don't think the side pipes are gonna sap that much power.

If you are racing, no way, I would not put them on, but for street/show, I would.

In racing, you are after every advantage. Street, that 5~10 hp loss won't matter much.

I doubt it... here's why: The pipes will now exit right behind your ear. Open window, sound fast.

Those sidepipes must be costing at least 100 horsepower. Take them off and send them to me!!

Guess that means you don't really want to give them up. You have to admit, they are great. Don't see them every day either.

I received my info packet from Lawrence-Keech,Inc. The company that sells the side exhaust. They show a chassis dyno sheet that shows a 23 HP GAIN over the stock L98 system. Doug Rippie Motorsports did the dyno run.

I can't see how these would cause power loss. I have a set on my 92. If you look at the routing, I would say you are shortening the distance, and basically eliminating a muffler. The short "glass pack" at the front end of the side pipe doesn't actually have exhaust flowing throught it....

From what I've heard, these are somehow "tuneable". Anyone have info on that??

i seen 23hp but you no as well as i do that with all the bolt on's i should be up to 1000hp by now. i thought that i was losing power over an exhaust that shoots right out the back because the flow goes right out?????????

In my info-pack they say you can tune your backpressure/exhaust note with their "tunable power capsule." (It's some sort of electric servo that is controlled from inside the car.)

Where did you get that info? I don't see any adjustable parts on mine.

ztrips,I called Lawrence-Keech Inc. (they sell the side effects exhaust) Told them to send me a info packet. They have a toll free # 887-376-9739 ask to speak to Joe Markovicz he is the V.P. of sales.(super nice and knowledgeable guy!) If you don't have any sort of a aluminum **** looking thing on the side of your power capsule (the thing that looks like a small glasspack) then you have a non-tunable capsule. I'm sure you could order tunable ones and put them on, but they cost $318.00. Not sure if that's for one or two. Give them a call!

You're right a straight shot is more efficient, BUT not if the exhaust has to go through any sound deadening material ( glass mat/etc.) Quieter = more back pressure. With the side effects the exhaust does NOT pass through any sound deadening material, therefor there is less back pressure!

I can't say for sure. The only way to tell would be to dyno your car. Having said that, the dyno runs in my info packet stated a 23hp gain over a stock exhaust system. The car was totally stock except for the side pipes. Soooo... if you have headers and other bolt ons I would be willing to bet you would show a much bigger HP gain. Give Joe at Lawrence-Keech a call I bet he could tell you!
