Called Doug Rippie. They seem to have a machinist that comes to work when he feels like it. I need to get something immediately, not be subject to whims of some semi-retired machinist who doesn't give a damn.
Does anybody know of any alternative sources for these items? I tried vette brakes and Stainless steel brakes and they don't appear willing to sell them. My vette is off the road because my current rotors are shot.
Try offering big bux for the early brackets that require no grinding, like $300 to $350. That'll get them thinking. Try Mid America and other's that sell the complete early J55 retrofit kit that everyone sells for $759. Tell them yours bent in a wreck and you need replacement parts or some other lame excuse. They may have more influence to obtain them from their supplier. SSBC is notorious for designing or selling one special part only in a complete brake package. That philosophy goes back to the 80's and has kept them in business selling overpriced, unique stuff. After my SSBC $600 plated Mustang SVO calipers peeled & rusted and the rubber parts dryrotted, I discovered their "lifetime" warranty on stainless brakes is a total farce. I feel your pain, good luck.
BAER brakes has them for about 160.00. They are made out of grade 8 metal and include the bolts. It's what they use in their brake upgrade kit, but last I checked, they will sell the brackets seperately.
Tried in vain to find someone reasonable,... didn't. It is an easy mod if you have a machine shop. Weld 2 donuts to the late model production brackets. Done.
Got mine from gtrotor.com
Man I can't find these brackets anywhere! DRM has been giving me the run around for weeks, BAER told me they don't carry them? , Orange Coast Corvette won't pick up the phone.........WTF!!!
That would be the easy way no doubt. For me it's partly the looks, but I've warped two sets of stock rotors so I'm ready to try something different. Also I do periodically drag race (this year being an exception due to tech problems) so the extra margin of safety is attractive to me.
By the way, if you're still interested in the my off-road y pipe, maybe we could meet in Jersey City. It's just on the other side of lower Manahattan so it's not the worst drive in the world.

I spoke to Max at Orange Coast corvette's. They don't sell an adapter for the caliper brackets. They sell a custom caliper bracket that supposedly bolts right up. He claims it's like the difference between someone who has correct offset wheels versus using wheel spacers. He feels his piece is far superior.
He wants $470 for the pair. Needless to say, I didn't bite.

I was able to convince the good folks at Exotic Muscle to sell me the brackets for $195. It probably helped that I have purchased things in the past from them. I also bought their stainless steel brake lines so that probably sweetened it a little too.
Vic- The y pipe is 2 1/2 in. It is the exact piece that is shown on the exotic muscle website sincethat is where I bought it about 18 months ago.
