Picture the angle that the cylinder heads are at. You have a v-shape that the intake has to sit in. If each cylinder head 0.10" different then you actually have 0.20" difference when you combine the two of them. If the LT4 ports are higher then your LT1 heads will leave 0.20" of gap.
I'm following you but .01" is one one hundredth of an inch and my heads have been decked (surfaced) a couple times anyway so I'm sure the total off my heads is more than a couple hundredths. I would think the LT4 intake ports would line up better because of this?
If your heads have been decked it will actually be greater. The LT4 intake has raised runners, you can't do anything to make it work properly unless you go to LT4 heads.
I talked to someone who has done this (More Performance) but it requires fabrication (welding) on the intake and doesn't appear to be very cost effective. #$%&! I was really hoping I could pull this off.

From what I understand... the intake will bolt up... but the ports do not match... thus it is a waste of time. There are companies ( I know Scoggin Dickey has it) that offer the full LT4 conversion that offers the LT4 heads, hotcam and intake in a package for about 2k. They guarantee 400hp once installed.
That is the route anyone with the LT1 needs to go. Otherwise you are wasting money for an intake that will essentially hurt performance.

For not much more than a stock LT4 intake, Bob at Precision Porting & Coating will fully port your stock intake and ceramic coat the underside to keep it cooler too. Check the GP in C4 parts section for contact info.
I was going to send my intake to Bob last week but the guys doing my engine didn't want me sending my intake off to Florida because they're doing assembly on my engine and putting everything back together right now. I shouild have sent my intake off last week anyway I'd probably have it back already.
The intake will bolt up and work but you will loose performance. As stated in an earlier post the ports do not line up corectly. I used to think it wouldn't fit at all as stated by others but one of the f-body guyst tryed it and it did bolt up. For less then the cost of an LT4 intake you could have yours ported and it would help performance rather then hurting it and if you get real bored get it powder coated.
