Just make sure you put in a small washer and a lock washer on each bolt on the waterpump pully to make up for the thickness of the now missing frisbee when you reinstall them, or some shorter bolts.

On My "98" I removed the Frisbee and reinstalled the 4 stock bolts and lock washers.. I checked for clearance and nothing was even close to hitting anything. The pulley spun freely and everything tightened down fine without any additional washers.

Well not sure about the 98 but on the 90 the bolts are too long without the frisbee and wont tighten the pully down well. A washer about the thickness of the frisbee(at mount holes) placed on top of pully (not under), fixes the problem.

I removed my 90's frisbee and reused the stock hardware with no problems. I'm certain that the inertia/mass of the frisbee was at least part of the reason my water pump mounting gaskets failed. Think about it.
