I finally got the time to continue troubleshooting my no start problem after my last post. P.S. Thanks for the replys. Now I have found that my injectors (less than 5 months old from 5 0 motorsports) aren't firing. Using the chart in the Helms manual I checked the wiring and found no problems at all. No shorts, opens etc. The manual then says that I should replace the computer and that's my problem. The computer is new. Is there any other place I should check before I try to return the computer? I rechecked the injectors and they all ohm out fine. Fuel pressure is good and the injectors hold pressure for over an hour. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and God Bless America on this election day...we might need it.
You can have the key checked at a Dealer. See if the Security Light is staying on while you crank it over. If not, it's probably not getting a reference pulse from the ignition module. That's the purple/white wire in the 4 wire harness at the distributor. Check it for continuity to Pin B5 at the ECM. Should have 2.5 volts on it with the key on. If you momentarily jumper a 12 volt test light to this circuit, you should see RPM indicated on your scanner. If it does, the module is probably bad.
If the starter cranks, then it isn't VATS! Unplug an injector and clip a low power 12v lamp across the injector socket and crank the engine, you should see the lamp pulse. If no pulse, then check for spark since the ECM gets a pulse from the spark control module to sequence the injectors (could be a defective spark module or the pickup coil). Check your injector fuses.
