Opti Crap help!
I've got to make a quick decision on replacing the Opti Spark for my
'92. I have breezed thru some old threads and checked out the Dynaspark on line. Looks promising. Pricey - does anyone discount this product and could someone give me an estimate on labor to install? Better yet, could you come over? lol

explain the problems? mileage? symptoms? things like that.
Where do you live? I could do it, but only if you are in the SoCal area!
Expect 6 hours labour, do the math on your local rates.
Replace the water pump at the same time.
The Dynaspark is available only though Dynatech. Price is fixed... nice piece tho...

Oh thanks for the offer but Ft. Lauderdale be a long long way!
THe symptoms are commensurate with opti problems. I cleaned up the opti a couple of years ago and have let the Vette sit far too long. Darn and just when I got the a/c working again.
Sudden onset, cranks but doesn't start, smell of fuel, blah blah. I thought H2O might have made its way into the fuel as occasionally the gas box drain tube will clog (especially with 4 hurricanes passing thru) but I poured some water in and it ran swiftly thru. Anyway the diagnosis doesn't surprise me. 6 hrs, well I guess the guy is in the ballpark. He quoted me a grand for the repair and a couple of hundred extra for a water pump. Seems like I go thru something like this every November. Thanks for the input.

I would check the fuel, too... but before jumping to the opti, check the coil and such...

My first thought was fuel pump when I smelled the fuel. But, what do I know. Sometimes I find myself still trying to pump the gas pedal like it's carburated to get it started.
