Default Aftermarket header question

I purchased a set of long tube headers. They are without any of the other features like air sensors.
My question is can I run these for street use, and what systems are effected, and how do I remedy their original purpose?
I am getting ready to take the headers to aesthetic finishers to get coated and want to know before I have $250 bill.
Thanks
Roger

If you are referring to O2 sensors, you can always have the bungs welded in before coating.
Who is the manfacturer of these headers and what year is your car?

Default aftermarket headers ( cont)

My car is an 86 with alum heads.
Headers are made by "Headman". I got them on ebay, new, for $175.
They seem of good quality and are ready to be installed once I get this issue worked out.

They are probably missing the smog stuff and an O2 sensor bung. Just have an O2 sensor bung welded on. And block off the egr crap and leave the air stuff disconected. Also switch to a heated O2 sensor.

Default aftermarket headers ( cont)

Is this something I can salvage from the OE headers?
EGR valve is under the plenum? Do they make a cover to delete this?
What is a heated o2 sensor?

Thanks for the offer Sean, but I prefer www.aestheticfinishers.com, as they are 20 miles from my home.

Thanks Roger

"Your friend" will be crushed!

The O2 bung is the piece welded into the headers that the O2 threads into. For about $5.00 for a new one, trying to salvage the old one wouldn't be worth while.

I don't know if there are commercial EGR block off plates available or not. For someone considering salvaging an O2 bung, whipping one up ought to be a piece of cake.

The O2 doesn't become useful until it reaches about 600*. Oft times with headers the O2 is located too far away from the engine to get hot enough to work. A heated O2 has a separate 12 volt circuit to heat it and keep it hot.

check the C4 tech tips in the under the "other" button above. There is a write up on the heated O2 sensor install. Also do a search. There are alot of posts on this.
