I'm looking at these dynomax super turbo mufflers 2.5" part # 17733off set in center out ( 410 CFM) 373 HP..or17734 center in center out 420CFM 382HP. Dynomax said it's the quietest performance muffler they make. Any i looked at the summit muffler, it looks identical, but they won't say who makes it and have no flow #'s for it.
Both mufflers are 14" case and 18.5" total length ?
Dynomax $36.88 ea.
Summit $14.75 ea.
My ravins are 2.5" center in and out blk, only 600 miles on them. they cost $80 ea. new...what are they worth used ?

The Dynomax mufflers are quieter than the others and flow good, but unless they have fixed them, several have said the brackets rust and fall off. If you want quiet, like I do, run stock mufflers. It's more stealthy that way and the 5.0 guys think they been blown off by a stocker. My grey beard and stock mufflers get 'em every time.

When you say stock, do you mean from Chevrolet or stock like? I have an 86 and the mufflers are going to need replacing and I do not want any more noise than stock or any resonance. I have a friend that works at a Chevy dealer and he said they had one muffler, I think it was a left one and it was in the midwest somewhere that they could get me for like $180. So I was working under the asssumption that actual stock isn't feasable. I was thinking of a rear Y pipe with a cross over and the Walker Quit flow stock reproduction mufflers from Ecklers or the Quet flow muflers from Mid America. I have my suspisions that they are the same thing.
Acutally, the resonance bothers me more than an actual increase in noise, so I am open to anyones suggestions for a resonance free combination.

GM doesn't MAKE mufflers. The Walkers are likely the very same thing the dealer can get, only half the price.
I'm running a Corsa Catback power pulses.. they are like $780 for the system, stainless they are very quiet til you romp on it! I don't like publicizing I'm romping on it HEH... no resonance with 3.07 rearend..
I made the mistake of getting Ravins on one of my vehicles once.. Never again, they are the biggest POS muffler ever made... STRAIGHT PIPES sounded better... Your doing the right thing dumping them ..
As far as what they are worth, put them on the forum for $25, someone may take them.
Mike 1985, looking at your profile I see you're similar to me. I too am running LT headers and NO cats. However I enjoy setting off car alarms in town, and having to turn up the stereo past 3/4 just to barely hear whats going on the radio
Have you considered the possibility of simply adding back one of your cats (the main cat), to a hi-flow one?
well thanks to most of you with positive worthy info. I'll just get the dynomax. I'm not looking to make the car silent, just not annoying. I would NEVER pay $700 plus dollars for and ex. my $250 set up has gone 10's...it's just too noisy for everyday driving.
As for those of you who say it has to be loud...well i just don't want it anymore. BTW..be careful of the quiet vette with the 4" cowl...it's pretty quick.
Hey Mike, Just jokin around Man.... I have a Corsa. sounds great.. low res noise.... but when you get on it and put the hammer down look out.... you can hear it then. The one thing about any performance add on. It costs ya$$$$$$$$$. You have to understand Mike..We hate porsche. Infact, if you ever want to **** off a porsche owner.. just ask him "What's In That VW"
Mike-
I hear ya on the exhaust noise level. I am thinking seriously about the Walker Y pipe with the crossover and a set of Dynomax turbo mufflers to keep the noise level down with some decent flow characteristics. I need to keep this "wife friendly" on the noise level, but want a bit better flow and performance. I think that with a free flow cat will be a combo I can live with.
Be advised that on the Dynomax mufflers, there is one of the two outlet tips that will get the majority of the exhaust flow. The other is functional, but doesn't get much of the flow. I got this from another member who has a pair installed and from Walker directly when I e-mailed them.
Let me know what you think of the Dynomax mufflers if you would please drop me a line after you get them installed. Thanks!
Brad

I learn something new here everyday. I always thought that I liked Porsches. Oh, well.
I had a balance tube installed, gutted CAT and TPIS' front 'Y' pipe and full length headers.
I've played this muffler swapping game ad nauseaum. I tried DynoMax Super Turbos and they were just too loud for my taste.
I then went with their "Quiet Flows", but still set off burglar alarms as I drove past.
The ony "fix" I've found so far that I can live with is to plug one of the muffler tips on each muffler with balled up aluminum foil packed in using an old broom handle and a hammer. I chose the tip that was flowing the most exhaust and plugged it.
The difference was tremendous.
Going back to a functioning CAT "may" make the difference I'm looking for, but, for now, I'm tired of throwing money at the problem.
thanks guys. i stoped answering my own post as it started to turn unbeneficial with off track replies.
But now that it's back to the origional question, so here's what's happening. I found a muffler test from a Pontiac test. I had this stored away at home. Anyway it tested mufflers, X and H pipes, also all backed up by track testing, flow testing and backpressure testing. The muffler that's the QUIETEST and made the most HP turned out to be the dynomax hemi turbo. This muffler has a 20" case and their about $43 each from summit. I have a pair here today and have a guy putting them on this afternoon. I'll let you know how they worked out. They are single in and out, I don't care if i have dual tips or not, that's just me though.
If you guys are interested in this write up i can fax this to someone and maybe they can figure out how to get it attached to this thread, or start a new one with the info provided.
