Default Intermittent Code 34(M.A.S./M.A.F.)

Before I replace it ($$$)... has anyone out there ever had an intermittent code 34(MAS) ? My new replacement checks out intermittently "bad". Diagnostic tree points ti the MAS. Anyone else experience this??? Thanks, Jack

Big jack ,

It is more helpful if you can tell us the year of your car as there are some differences.

On the 84-89 there is a burn off relay that sonetimes goes bad if it is a 95-96 there is no relay.

In either case if the engine is running erratic before it throws a code try disconnecting the MAF sensor connector, it will throw a code but the engine should smoothen out. If you have the earlier C4's replece the relay and the MAF at the same time...

Also try looking at the connector on the MAf as well perhaps you have a bad connector after a period of time the connections "get a little larger and don't always make good contact. Try wiggling with the engine running.. of course what out for the serpentine belt etc....

i hope this helps,

mo

When I had an intermittent MAF fault it turned out to be the ECM. If your MAF checks out OK, maybe you're lucky enough to have a friend with a known good one you can try.
