Default Winter Storage question

I was told today that for proper winter storage I should put my vette on stands and remove all the liquids from the car. I've heard the jack stand thing before, but never to remove all the lubricants and coolant. Is this an old wives tale or something I should be concerned with???

Leave all fluids in, but add some fuel stabilzer to the tank.

Also, start the car at least once a month, to keep it fresh and running. Start it, and let it run for atleast 30 minutes.

Even in MO, you can get it out and run it around for that long...

.
Keep gas in the tank, add stabilizer.
Fully air up the tires, push car a few feet every other week.
Do something to keep the batt charged,
Battery Tender Jr,, costs thirty bucks.
Make sure car is FULLY warmed up, last
time run before storage.

The suspension does not do well is unloaded for that length of time. Don't use jackstands

DO NOT use stands. You should find posts here explaining why. It has to do with the composite springs I think.

I jack my tire pressure up to 50psi and roll it once a month. Leave all the fluids in but change your oil before storage. Old oil contains acids that will eventually etch interal components (given enough time).

Don't forget to check your antifreeze strength if you live in a climate that gets below freezing.

I keep a trickle charger on my battery and start it once a month allowing it to warm up to full temp. I also add fuel stabilizer to the full fuel tank.

Also, a couple of bounce sheets here and there helps keep mice away.

Missouri weather is normally good enough to at least drive your car a couple of times a month, in the worst winter months.

Especially for those that won't be starting the car, besides fuel stabilizer, FILL the tank. Moisture can condense out of the air in the tank. The less air, the better. On the last fill up, take a gas can with you and fill it to the flapper valve after you get it home and shut it off for the last time.

RACE ON!!!
