Default have $$$ need help

i have 91 coupe auto. the only mods. catback(magnaflow). i have $8000 to spend and i want speed, that i can still drive day to day. should i get a new motor or stroke mine or just bolt-ons? i will have to have someone else do the work so labor will have to be figured in the cost . also i have 2.59 gears maybe go up to 3.07 ? thanks for the help

Definitely include gears... you may want to go shorter than 3.07 even.

8k
This is what I would do:
-Home built or AR Racing engine (ebay) 383---------------3-4k
-Longtubes w/ your catback-----------------------------~700$
-New 700R4 Raptor or such beefed up tranny------------~2k
-D44 w/3.07 or whatever comes in it -------------------2-2.5k
-And if there is money left over go with QA1s all around and get great handling and (when turned down) a pretty good launch shock too!------------------------------------------$560+ship

Which on the low side puts you at: ~8.5k.
Now I know some company sells that 700R4 raptor for 17xx$

Money just goes soooo quick don't it!

A-word of warning,
A) you will never have enough money as there is always stuff you never
expect to have to buy
B) This is merely some ideas for you to think over, but if you do get an 8k beastly motor, do you really think the rest of your drivetrain could take it???

Have fun!

Ouch, I was just scrolling above and saw you said someone else will do labor. Labor is killer...
If you can do some yourself, you can do more and more stuff.
For instance, say it was 1700 to put in a new engine and tranny. If you got a friend to help you, it would be 1700 more dollars for that D44...

Anyway have fun, I am gonna go shut up for a long time...

If youre not going to turn the motor over 5000, you could do an emission legal 406. Friend of mine's shop quoted around 6k+- Passed emissions, made over 500 lbs of torque. Stock converter, catback, ign. and gears. Might want to upgrade your runners.

If you are talking about the LT4 heads/intake/hot cam kit. This kit won't work on his engine, he has an L98.
