A Flooded rear storage box
Well some of my shorting is due to a bit of water in the rear boxes ...
Is there a plug/fitting I should know about to allow this place to drain out, or is it all about sealing up the interior...
My hardtop is gonna go on next weekend if I get the bolts from ART's...
Also I think I remember there is a brake electrical do-dad in this area... just trying to determine what I may have to replace after I drain the water out.
you broke something... unless your top is leaking like a sieve...
to drain?? I have no clue... Those "plugs" look somewhat perminant to me.
I would use a shop vac to suck it dry... then do something to keep it dry.
If you remove the ABS system, it might be ok. I think the electronics are top side, so if they didn't get flooded, you might be ok.
check the undercarrage for cracks... if there are any, they must be fixed. there is a chance that your auto insurance will cover if road hazard damaged the bins.
I had a similar problem on my 92; but it was the hatch weatherstipping that allowed water to leak down into the storage area on the passenger side. It wiped out my Bose doo-hickey and cost me $100 for a rebuilt unit. I would have to guess that it depends just how much water (to what level) took up residence in your storage well as to what might be damaged. I used a sponge to get as much out as I could and then used an old hair dryer to dry everything off. If you have FX3, that too is on the driver's side. Hope not, they are expensive, but can be gotten used for a fairly reasonable price. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that the damage is minimal.
As well you know, the rear storage area is a bad place to have water because of electronics. First thing you need to do is find the leak if this is an outside vette. Next you need to dry out the storage compartment and drain. And said in a previous post, save money.
