i have 91 coupe auto. next to the mph numbers the cat is flashing "sys" three times and it has done it 20 or 30 different times. the car is running great and the manual says there is a problem with the central control module. is there someway to check for the problem w/out going to the dealership?? any idea what the problem is? thanks jeff
sounds like you need to check your codes. its fully explained in the service manual with full description of the fault code. If you dont have a manual I can get mine and post the procedure for you. good luck.
1. code 31-lcd data circuit(circuit shorted to battery voltage or ccm internal open)
2. code 33-data clock circuit(circuit shorted to battery voltage or ccm internai open)
3. code 35-data strobe circuit(circuit shorted to battery voltage or ccm internal open)
4. code 37-m clock circuit(circuit shorted to battery voltage or ccm internal open)
i just had my bose stereo removed and a new cd player installed could that be the cause of my problem? if so can i correct it and how? if that is not the problem please help thanks..........

Hey, I seen something similar to that the last time I ran my battery very low and then started the car. It barely started but when it did I have a bunch of CCM codes that looked similar to what you have there. Just reset the codes and see if they come back.
The flashing SYS display can indicate a bad battery. Watch the voltage display. With the ignition at the RUN position, you should see readings around 11.8 to 12.3 or so. With the engine running, you should see voltage readings ranging from 14.8 to 13.6. If you see values around 12 or so with the engine running, have a load test performend on the battery and have the alternator tested for proper output.
The fact that you had an aftermarket audio system could also be the issue. I have read posts about this same thing happening when the factory system is removed. I would post your problem again over in the Audio/Electronics section. I believe there is a resistor that needs to be installed on a wire to keep the code from showing and the SYS message flashing.
