Default I'm discovering MSD finally, need some help.

My HEI Distributor screwed over, long story. Anyway I have that dist, and then I have the old style dist from non HEI that I can use which I was thinking about till I seen this History channel. They said that the MSD allows the spark plug to fire more then once, allowing everything to get burned, probably means more efficient and they said better idle.

Now what do I need so I can get the old style Distributor to work with MSD, I will probably buy this stuff off ebay b/c I see no point in paying retail when I can find it cheaper. I already wasted tons of money like that. Anyway, after I get it running again, maybe around the beginning of summer, I'd like to go with forced induction.

Which one should I buy that will be able to do vacuum advance and then be able to do boost retard when that variable comes into play later on? Or would I have to buy a totally seperate unit?

The MSD will come with instructions. Not much of a problem making it work with the distributor. The problem will be making the car work with that old mechanical distributor.

RACE ON!!!

Uh, yes. Multiple Spark Discharge will do that.

Go to www.msdignition.com They have several products, one of which is a boost timing retard that you could use in conjunction with whatever igntion box you decide to buy.

I would HIGHLY suggest you buy this stuff new. I have personally had fantastic luck with all of my MSD products but some people have not been so lucky. Buying new with a warranty may pay for itself in the long run.

as a side note, I love msd! I installed some new spark plug wires and like an idiot was not careful and 4 of the wires fell on the headers! Burned them down to the insulating core...I called MSD, told them what I had done, and wanted to see if was possible to buy individual wires instead of the whole set. The guy told me to send my whole set to them and they would replace them for free!!

Does that schematic tell you the proper volts for the points? How to power the coil in the start mode? What will you use to supply pulses to the ECM to fire the injectors or activate the fuel pump relay?

RACE ON!!!

No Injectors, No ECM, and No need to find a source to provide Power to the Fuel Pump. I am running a 750 Vacuum Secondary Holley ontop of a 406CID SBC, so I dont have to worry about that.
