Default HP question

I have a 90 coupe, 6 speed and was wondering how much hp the tranny and rear end can take? I am in the process of building a 383 for it and don't want anything to break.

Its not the HP that breaks things, its torque.

It shouldnt break the ZF or the D44, but youll roast the clutch soon enough.

i ahve a 91 and i am putting in the gm zz383 crate motor 425hp/460tq and i am having a chevy dealership install. the manager is a friends dad and he has had vette for 20 years and has done alot of vette mods. he assured me that the tranny would be fine i just have to install a 2000 stall converter. so your tranny should be fine good luck

From what I've read, and been told-
The D44 will hold up to just about anything,
The D36 will hold up until you start combining a lot of torque with Drag slicks...

all long as the tires can spin you should be fine...

at least from what I've read...

Alright thanks for the help, I am planning about 450 tq and will probably end up getting a better clutch for it then too.
