I bought the USB version ALDU1 and OBD1 cable CABL1. I am trying to make this thing work so I can datalog my 86 vette. I seriously need help bad with this thing. The setup cost me almost $100 and I just can't figure it out. I am trying to view engine running sensor data, and such. My laptops both have Windows XP, and niether one can connect. Please help....
Although this is no help, I have a 91 with very similiar problems. I can't get the datalogging to work with any consistancy. I've datalogged, but again, not with any consistency.
Moates stuff is great, very high quality. BUT, I have heard comments lately from the vette crowd about connectivity problems. It seems the Vette is a different beast, and gives tunerpro RT's ALDL feature some quirks. I dont have a, sorry. If you go to TTSPowersystems.com, and try Datamaster, it may work. In the Datamaster instructions it states something different about logging in a vette, that maybe the moates group doesnt quite have figured out yet.
Anyway, WinALDL should work for you. You also could have built a simple cable for about $5, WinALDL is free. I made my own cable, and let me tell you its not always plug and play anyway. There seems to be alot of trouble with these software types accessing ports correctly. Make sure your com ports are all set right is all I can say. It took me 20-30 tries to get mine running, and now it hooks right up. Maybe someday someone will perfect this stuff. Craig usually backs everything he makes, so ask him for help, and worst case- a refund.
I had problems at first getting the program running too. Go into the hardware setup in control panel and make sure the settings on your usb port are correct. It should be set for xon xoff . Then make sure the cable from Craig is attached to the special box correctly. Next make sure that the white switch on the connection box is in the down position. You do not want it set at the position that causes the service engine light to flash. Then make sure you use tuner pro RT. Go to the site download the program and get the 1227165_6e.ads ALDL defination file. Right click the file and save it to your desktop or location of your choice. When you hook everything up run the diagnostic program and load the ALDL definition file... I use this method and it works well for me with Windows xp.. Also email Craig if you have problems he will send you his phone number. He is of great help. Also you may have to try a number of times to get the program to initialize. Dont give up it works!!!! Hope this helps Wayne
I had problems with CABL1 and ALDU1 too with my 90 vette using TunerProRT.
I can connect, I can datalog but with a number of errors of 4 times the data collected.
The ratio is about 1 record good and 4 records with errors.
I spoke with Craig and with Mangus ...problem not found.
Since the problem is the CCM (on 90 and 91 Y cars) that shares data from pin M of the ALDL connector, I tried Datamaster and all works fine.
The only problem is that NO instant MPG can be read during datalog.
Note: The Pin M in the ALDL connector is the pin where all sensor data pass thru...
