Default L98 specs

Where can I find details out about the L98 in my '85. I have read conflicting details about the engine in it. Type of pistons/cam/injectors/etc. I see in another post that the '85 uses forged pistons? I remember reading that the stock cam in an 85 is different from other years (l98's), and that it is far better? Or were these just opinions?
The stuff I read seems to indicate the '85 l98 is different from every other one (besides the obvious use of all cast-iron).

Can any point me towards some info to prove or disprove this?

I happen to have an '85 GM Shop Manual, as well as one for my '88 Vette, and the '85 shop manual quotes your pistions as cast Al. But some guys swear that they are forged, so I tend to suspect the data in the manual.

However, here is the cam lift: .2733"/.2820". BTW, my '88 shop manual quotes the same specs???

85 and 86 cams are the same, 202/206 @050. 84 and 85 had forged pistons heldover from C3.

Its a 2-piece seal, only L98 that should have one.

Except for the camshaft the 1984 L83 and the 1985 L98 have identical long blocks. The cam was 1985 and 1986, only, as vader86 said. 1986 used the same crappy '624 heads and changed to cast pistons and the one piece rear main seal block and crank.

RACE ON!!!
