Headlight wire chafe found.
As you know I've got wiring issues with my car, including the headlight motors. I'm on travel for work right now. So my car is over at a forum vendor (hardbar.net) being used to prototype some new seat rails.
I got a phone call today after he took it for a wash to take pictures. He got back to the shop and heard a sizzling sound under the hood.
He popped the hood and threw my battery disconnect, and tracked down the noise. It seems the harness to the headligh has chafed through where it is routed through clips on the hood, underneath the door opening. When the car was wet it caused a short.
This explains a lot! Both with the headlight, and the battery problems I've been having. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh set of eyes.
I thanked him for finding the problem.
