Default Race Gas?

I know I've heard some discussion re: race fuel but can't locate any old threads. So having said that, I'm thinking of adding a few gal. of 110 leaded to the tank this weekend for California Speedway AX.

My new motor is 355ci. Trick Flow Street Bracket TPI Torque Monster .. 10.8.1 compression. Anyone have experience with this, is it worth it? and what proportion works best?

Are you running cats on your car? If so I would stay away from running any leaded gas, I think it can clog them up. If not run straight 110 and bump the timing up. I've run 110+ in my 355 (68 camaro 4sp ) and I could feel the difference in lowend grunt.

If you are already running all the spark advance you need and aren't getting knock counts, higher octane gasoline, than necessary, can only slow you down.

RACE ON!!!

don't waste your time or your money. Unless you have the compression that needs race gas, which 10.8:1 doesn't need, you will inevitably hurt your performance and your wallet.

Race gas burns resists detonation, less volatile, therefore it burns slower. Hence your timing needs to be adjusted to maintain the "optimum" timing.

Race gas was designed for 12:1+ compression motors, that basically compress the charge so hard, that the compression itself will ignite regular fuel. Its not uncommon for all out race motors to be 14 and 15:1 compression and even higher. Its free HP ~4% more power for each point of compression. If you don't mind paying 5.75/gal for fuel, your silly not to take advantage of building your motor to a high compression spec. I wish I would have gone to 13:1

The car has no pollution control, no cats, smog pump and super clean freeflow exhaust w/crossover & 2 baby magnaflows. But does have an Oxygen Sensor.

like said above, don't waste your money and it can also lead to disappointing results as it can slow you down. I know cause I learned the hard way.

Let me see said the blind man?
110 unleaded as you said at the beginning of the post.
Bump the timing and run the 110 you will notice a diff on the big end and alittle more touque.
Only one O2 sensor on the drivers side should run alittle hot which is good for better throttle responce.
You have better then stock exaust I see so I would run it.
Could be as much as a 1/2 second in the 1/4 mile if you shift the car.
