Muff Elims in California?
So what's the deal with running muffler eliminators in California?
The man in charge of the project at the site has moved on to a new job, so I might be staying here indefinitely!
I'm really glad I left all the emissions installed!

I have had them for a pretty long time and have had no problems with the law enforcement. Unfor. however there is a noise pollution law that you may get hit with depending on the area that you live in.

alot of cops are pretty cool with loud cars here in my city.i have 3" pipe with 1 chamber race flowmasters on my 455 pontiac and its damn loud! i get no hassels and the cops like to hear that over imports here. as far as the law goes on smogs,most gas station with smog stations dont' give a rats @$$! what goes on as long as it doesnt' smoke!a more reputable smog shop will ask whats up with that but its not really a smog requirement.its a noise "muffler" thats all.

some towns are rather ****, and if you go there, they may just nail you with a fixit ticket.
if it means anything, I had elims with resonating tips... and they measured nearly 95 db. Many towns have noise limits approaching that... and the resonators were quieter!!!

Sema got a law sneaked in that allows 95 decibels. No cops that I know of carry a meter to measure this. They can give you a fix it ticket that requires you to take your car to a referee station to be measured for decibels from a distance of seven feet. Go figure! It would be hard to make more noise than a Harley and you could threaten to sue for discrimination as they don't give Harleys a second look.

Mufflers aren't an emissions item.
I think there are laws on noise, but nobody enforces them. They're basically in place so if your neighbor bitches to the police over and over for 6 months, they have some sort of CVC number to write on the ticket. Just don't redline it in front of a cop.
