I agree with you, My time is important. I just hope Gene comes through on this for me. He said to stay in touch with him and he would fix me up. We will see.....

The whole deal is on hold for at least a week or so, as I'm going to be unable to pull the cluster until I get my vette back from the dealer, later this week. Gene has given me his word that he will refund 100% of my money and at least put my old cluster back together with my old parts + a new tach LCD. I trust he'll do that.....I'll keep you guys posted.

The only reason this guys making it right is because he reads this forum. If he didnt read this forum do you think he would be in touch with these customers? There are too many places rebuilding these displays to do business this way. This guy will never see my money.

For what it's worth, my 85 dash crashed many years ago. I sent it to a Corvette place in Bristol PA (they advertised in Corvette Fever - maybe still do). Everything was fine and has been fine since.

Shipped my cluster out to Gene yesterday, UPS. Called him with the tracking #, as he'd said that as soon as he had the tracking # he'd refund my money. Touched base with him again this morning, to verify that he'd refunded my money. He said (jokingly, I hope, but I don't think he's joking...) 'you must be broke.' I laughed, and confirmed his sentiment. Kind of rude, but hey, I can't argue with him

He said that the money has been refunded to my account. I can't see it on there yet (I used my debit card) but these things usually take a few days to post anyways, so I'm not worried. He said he would pop the cluster open on Monday and take a look at it (he's promised he would turn it around in a day or two, and I'm assuming that will happen.) After a few months this story may actually have a happy ending. We'll see.

Just a note - check it very carefully.
Not to make waves, but issues with a supposed 85 or newer 700r4 auto tranny purchased turned out to be an 84 with different shaft, pump and 3 installations and more$$$$ later the trans was running properly.

Thanks for not making waves, but the surf is up anyway.

I got the part from Taber. It was the wrong part, not what I ordered. I called them, they told me to return it and they would credit me. I think they should have gotten it back about a week ago and I'm still waiting for my refund. If there's a problem I'll update here.

On another subject, for what it's worth, I would NEVER use a Debit Card for any telephone or on-line purchase with any merchant, even the most trusted one you know. Use a credit card that is not linked to your bank account.

Why's that? I have both fraud protection and also I believe the ability to call and complain about vendors/recieve a refund from the bank...Just curious what you mean (maybe you know something i don't.)

I cant speak for him directly...
but from a computer person's point of view
"Fraud Protection" is just an... orwellian name pulled from the sky... to quote a great american

at least that's my opinion. If your careful with it, you should be plenty safe

First, sorry for commenting about something not relevant to this Thread but the payment with debit card caught my eye because I oversee credit card/debit card operations in a small financial institution. (And see the "impossible" problems.)

I'll try to be brief. Fortunately, debit card problems are rare and transactions of this type are very safe, however, I look at it this way:

If something goes wrong in the "fraud protection" process or in a "dispute" with a merchant, would you rather be dealing with unauthorized debits to your bank account, or unauthorized charges on your credit card?

I probably should not have added my comment here because that is definitely not what this Thread is about, so I'll just leave it at that so we can get back to hearing about the happy resolutions with Taber.

It may be irrelevant, but it's still useful info.

This is a great thread. It's about time some of these vendors realize that this forum is a huge portion of business. Word of mouth can make or break you.

Once again, it is just my opinion but if I had a problem with my dash cluster and someone should come up on my blind side and put a gun to the back of my head and say " you will go to Taber's corvette dash cluster repair or I will blow your head off " I would beg the punk to pull the trigger! Really!!! Once again that is just my opinion

It's only taken a few months, why so impatient?
