Default Machine 4ooblk to eliminate cam button

I am looking to go BIG (427). Is there a way to machine the 400 block to accept a late model cam, cam retaining plate, and sprocket.

I have yet to see an older block, but I am looking for low friction choices

Whats wrong with using a cam button? I used one in mine along with a roller bearing on the timing set gear. I used a Cloyes hexajust roller timing set and a 2 piece billet timing cover with an adjustible roller cam button built in.

That said, I dont think you can retrofit that to the ols style block. There isnt a machined surface like the newer blocks.

No... There is no boss for the retainer plate. You'll have to use a cam button.
