Default Help with Programming a Passive Keyless Entry Transmitter

I am having trouble programming the PKE transmitter on my 95 coupe. I follow the following procedure (1) Place the transmitter out of range, (2) Turn the ignition key to ON, (3) Push the TRIP/ODO button twice, (4) within 5 seconds I push and hold the FUEL/INFO button until the PKE light comes on and stays on, and (5) Turn the ignition switch OFF but leave the key in the ignition. After I turn the ignition switch off the PKE light goes out. Is this normal? Should the PKE light stay on or should it go out and then come back on? What should happen? Thanks for any help.

After you turn the ignition key off the PKE light should flash once per second to signal that the system is ready to program the first transmitter. Then bring the transmitter into range and the light will come on and stay on, signaling that the code has ben stored.

If the light is not flashing, you have a problem.
Sounds like the unit in the car and not the FOB.

Check the Tech write ups. I did mine from that and it worked fine. The light should blink as noted early.
