I have been toying with the idea of the YSI as well. I know they are much bigger than the T tirm and as of right now my T already rubs underneath the hood. I think you would have to cut into the hood for a YSI.

Thanks guys for all the input. I have been thinking about adding a blower, and I am leaning towards a Vortech mainly because I don't have to fab up brackets. I have been thinking either Procharger F-1 or Vortech YSi. They are somewhat close in cfm, but the Vortech will basically bolt right in. If I have to trim the hood support... I guess I will do what I have to do. Has anyone else had any experiance with the Vortech YSi, or is the F-1 worth all the extra work and hassle. It would be nice to have more power all the time with out spraying nos. I guess 477 N/A rwhp isn't enough .

The vortech ysi is an awesome blower. The NMRA guys (mustang guys) are in the mid 8's with this blower. It will definately move enough air. Belt slip will be an issue if you're using 8 rib. The mustang guys use a 8" crank to help with that. I'm not sure of the size of vette crank pulley. Perhaps you can rig up some cogs somehow.
The size is just a tad larger than the a/s/t trims. The mail difference is in the impeller. I've actually seen retro fitted s and t trims with the ysi impeller. It's a great blower and makes a bunch more power than the old ys trim.
FYI, I have a mustang with a t trim and a 92 vette with a S trim.
I have never seen or heard a C4 with a YS or YSI blower. I have seen a few LT1 F bodies with these blowers. They are fast! Very fast! i would love to see a C4 with one of these bad boys.
Are you sure you can use a standard Vortech bracket for the YSI? i was told a while back by someone that I couldn't??? If you know for sure, let me know.
I had a YS a few years back and it blew up on the first run. It sent metal into the intercooler and would have blown the engine if I did not know enough to let off. I got lucky and after a lot of talking I got a free blower. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that I used to make and sell C4 Vortech kits in the early 90's. I was also told I would never get a replacement blower again and that what they did for me was rare.
With that said I went to Procharger for a number of reasons including the blown head unit. I would never consider a Vortech race unit for the street. From the comparisions I have seen(inside the blower) the procharger transmission is much larger and stronger and the impellers are of a higher quality. This is only my opinion from having owned both over the last 15 years. Prochargers are not the low quality P600/1200's that they started out selling and it took a while for me to change but when you see Vortech lowering their HP ratings on the kits there seems to be a problem.
To answer the original question I had on on a 90 with a Carroll bracket9on my car when I bought it). The blower hits the hood and a upper control arm mount. A grinder will fix it. The six rub belt or eight for that matter will slip like mad due to the transmission ratio in the Vortech. A cog is a must regardless of what the person selling the blower will tell you.
