i still havnt fixed mine. i tore mine apart, and there's a little thin piece of plastic that pushes the signal to turn on. forgot which side is the weak side but that plastic has broke off. i believe u need to buy the wiper switch.. or thats what its called from GM. its the stalk and it comes with the whole turn signal assembly.

My "guess" at this time would be number 12 on this picture.
You will need to pull the steering wheel and the pressure locking plate and then behind that will be number 12 it's held on with 3 screws.
But now that I think of it it could be number 11. that is what moves number 12 when you push up or down on the lever and is more likely to brake.

My 93 did exactly the same. The plastic house is broken. I kinda clued it back on, it works ok. The best thing is to take it a part find out what is broken.

this is too funny... this is the same problem i have too.. both. this issue of the wheel having play is common. many member have had it and this topic has been discussed very many many times, alot by just me, and there is no definite answer. Some people say the column housing is a soft aluminum and the pivot pins wear the holes out and it causes play... but i replaced pins and checked for play. it was driving home one day from the shoppe after tearing the column apart when i turned left onto my street and my signal would not stop clicking... then i found out the signal switch was broken.

on the turn signal switch assembly, there are 2 pieces of plastic like this.. ( ( in the middle would be a pivot. kind of like this (.( picture the dot moving up and down when turning the signal switch. basically your problem is the same as mine where one of the ( has broken off. it is such a thin piece of plastic i was so surprised after i saw it i couldnt believe it. putting any weight on your switch assembly is bad, even on a new one.

anyhow, if you get a flashlight... i dont recall where... i can try taking a pic.. you can see into the column.. when you move the switch up and down you can see where it pivots. as a temporary solution i used needle nose pliers and through there i glued my piece back on... although the switch movement isnt smooth.. it works.

soon i plan to replace the whole column housing AND the switch assembly and plan on taking complete pics of the process. hope that helps any bit.

oh and in the diagram i believe it is part #12. Thanks for the blowup!! the wiper/signal switch goes into that piece from the side.

Tell him that you are a Forum member and he will cut you a great deal on the parts.

As for the wheel tilting down and to the left mine does that too. And when I had it out a few weeks ago to fix the highbeam switch I was going to fix that too but it was looking like it was going to be way to much work so I didn't. I think that these pivots break becuase guys will use the wheel to help themsleves in and out of the car.

Yeah i know what you mean I never press on my wheel getting in or out but the guy that had my car before me was old and must have felt he needed it.
