Default Question about the Hypertech Power Programmer...

Lets say you have a bone stock corvette with NO engine mods at all. Will you get any power increase with the Hypertech Power programmer or in order to use the programmer, you will need to have slight mods on your vette (intake,exhaust...)?? Is it also safe if you use the programmer with a bone stock vette?

Hi Torch,

Well first no the hypertech will not harm your car. Depending on how well your' O2's and such are and the condition of the engine you may or maynot benefit form the tuning portion ofthe hypertech. Most people buy them to change the cooling fans to help the engine run cooler rather than the 200 + degrees they are set to run from the factory. If you have an automatic, you can benefit from the firmer shifts and the adjustable shift points.

There are a couple schools of thought as to whether they are worth it or not... I personally never benefited from the tuning side. which adjusts the timing a bit and trims the fuel ...

I have heavily invested in LT 1 edit which is more designed for modified engines and a logging software and I flash my own changes.

Hope this helps,

Mo

Thanks 4 the info. I only have 17k miles and plan to keep the car stock other than an intake system. Im planning to get the programmer to run lower temps and have firmer shifts in my auto tranny but Im still thinking about it. I might end up getting the comp chipped instead...

You can't use a hypertech it's only for flash computers.
The only thing you can do is get a chip to change coolent and increase line presure to the trans.
The trans go shift kit is a good investment and it does not make it shift that hard.

Default Hypertech

Hi guys,

I have a '93, same as Torchred's, bone stock, 38K miles.
So what can we do to lower the temp. of our cars if we can't use the Hypertech?
What about the modified fan switch and 160 thermostat?
Glad I saw this thread!

You can still got to hypertech it is a chip replacement vice a flash program... sorry I wasn't clear on that

Some of the kits do offer the 160 degree thermostat with the kit, and tha fan temp sensor. I knw it was used with the 87-89's I'm not sure if it is offered for the 1993's
