i just recently purchased a tpis bigmouth base and
my question is, i need to gasket match it to a 1206
intake gasket is there gonna be enough material left
at the top of the ports after matching to seal properly?
it looks pretty close.
no not yet but i have layed the gaskets that came with the
bigmouth on my new heads that require 1206 gaskets and looks
to be about 1/4" or so taller ports than the intakes. i'll just
take it to the local engine guru and let him do it.may need
material added so it would save me tons of headaches
FYI, over in the engine section a guy said he talked to Edelbrock and they said gasket matching the intake isn't important till you hit 500. Just an FYI...
i am confused now. i thought making sure the intake of air and
exhausting air is a very important thing. an engine is a big air
pump and if it is done efficently its not gonna perform properly.

Yeah, below 500 hp, it has no effect. Above that, its an important performance mod.
My answer is, if it's relatively simple to get to, and you're already in there, go for it. Otherwise, its not worth the hassle.
