Here you go

1. press slightly on gas pedal w/ key off, maybe 1/4" or so of pedal.

2. Turn key on to where you hear fuel pump activate and the display light up. You should hear a metallic "clack" sound come from the throttle body area of the engine compartment. That s the IAC pintle cycling.

3. Start engine while holding the pedal in as described in #1, let off as son as engine starts and runs.

4. Let engine run 5 seconds then shut down.

5. Wait 10 seconds and the start the engine normally with foot OFF the gas pedal. Engine may crank a couple seconds longer than usual for this start up, that is normal right after the reset.

6. reset procedure is complete.

By "running worse" is it still the running rich issue or is it an idle speed or stability problem?

If running rich with no air leaks you may have a problem with an O2 sensor or the ECM's coolant temp sensor.

Never read of that being a way to do it, but I can't definitely say it's wrong. So put me down for "unknown".

The procedure I've seen most often involves jumpering the ALDL. The step-by-step should be in the Tech Tips section.

Why not reset as according to your manual?

Your manual says the procedure for resetting the IAC is to drive the car at or above 35 MPH...

I personally would not want to turn the engine on and off for 5 second shots

The IAC is fairly non-maintenance. It might just be gummed up. You might pull the throttle body and give it a good cleaning.

The method posted for resetting the IAC is the only one I've ever seen (whether it be for an L98, LT1 or a GM V6 for that matter - it's always the same). The only reasons to reset are if you replace it, or on those cars with a minimum idle adjustment, after you complete that adjustment. Post more specifics about what's going on with your Vette. How do you know it's running rich? If you've captured some scan data - post those #'s.
