Default Code 44 Problem

My 95 cpe is pulling a code 44. I recently had the plugs and wires replaced as well as a leaking intake manifold gasket. Does any one have any ideas what could be wrong. I've replaced every O2 sensor and I'm not pulling any opti-spark codes. Could I have fouled fuel injectors, or is it the opti-spark. It has a rough idle until the check engine light comes on, then it runs super rich. I guess the engine is trying to compensate for the lean mixture (code 44). If the engine was missing because of the optispark, wouldn't it pull a rich exhaust code because the gas is unignited? I need help because I'm getting 8 mpg.

The computer will richen the engine if the engine is running lean and the computer will lean the exaust if the engine is rich.
So the engine has a vacum leak or air leaking into the intake or engine !!
Right is left and left is right?
get out the WD40

I busted out the WD40. Couldn't find any leaks that made the engine change idle. A clarification on how the car is running, it runs lean, to the point of missing until the engine light comes on, and then it runs super rich. It however, does not go back and forth from running rich and lean. It only throws a code 44. A vacuum leak sounds possible, but is there anything else I should check out.
