The only thing that will be lighter will be your billfold. The air pump does not weigh more than 5 pounds, and takes less than 1 HP to drive. In addition, I understand that it's only active during cold warm-up, so during normal driving it just exists. The only reason I've heard for removing the thing is to clean up the engine compartment. Definitely NOT worth $170. You could send me the $170 and I'll mail you back instructions on how to remove it ...
if you remove it you must put something in place of it though. might just be another mod you can do on your own if you put together the right parts, these guys must have just done it for you and sold it on the internet.

I think that's the half truth...
I think the 20 HP gain and 20 Lbs reduction comes from eliminating the AIR system and its components. Once the AIR system is gone, removing the AIR pump is optional, and most do it only to "clean up the engine bay"
100%....20 horses is alot...think of the air pump as robbing the same amount as the alternator...a lil, but not enough to notice any "seat of the pants" improvement. i doubt the clock at the strip will even be able to tell the difference.
The AIR pump is meant to heat up the converters and get them working before the engine is up to temperature, so its main purpose is emissions on cold startup. Once the cats are hot, it really doesnt do much.
The eliminator wont free up any power, its sitting where the original sits, but it does free up a little weight after removing the AIR pipes and components. Its good for cleaning up the engine bay as well.
