Default Hooker Headers...Need help

I was supposed to get my LT Hooker Headers on yesterday but when I got to the shop they ordered Shorties instead, they said that the shorties are the only header Hooker makes for the 94LT1. The correct Long Tube Headers for my 94LT1 is the 2151 right?? And they do have the O2 bungs in place right? And correct me if I am wrong but isn't the 2151 made for the L98's?? I know I have read info about these guys on this board but now I need the info ASAP and of coures can't find it. Thanks for any info.

Call the people at summitracing.com (I forget the number), and speak with a sales prerson, they will tell you exactly what headers will fit your car. I'm not saying that the mechanic is trying to pull a fast one, but you should be the one who knows what fits on your car. I have a 91 Coupe, and I just had the Hooker's put on my car (part # 2149). My mechanic wanted me to put on TPIS, but TPIS is on back order. So, I took the bull by the horns and called Summit, and they explained to me what my options were, and what else I needed for the installation. IE: Corresponding Y pipe. Good Luck.

yes the 2151 is made for the l98 but will fit the LT1 but there are no o2 bungs unless you ask them they will put them in for you. You'll need to eliminate the egr and you'll need to switch to heated o2 sensors.

Yeah you said it, I thought I was informed on this. The mechanic said he's done these before but apparently not. So I need to tell them to install the 02 bungs..ok sounds simple. What about elimanating the egr and running heated sensors, is that completed and pricey?

eliminating the egr isn't too bad you just need two block off plates for the back of the intake manifold and then I think it will throw a code unless you get a chip with an "egr delete"

the heated o2 sensors are the sensors that come stock on the 96 vettes you'll need two sensors, a relay and then just run a wire from a switched power source.

I bought my 2151's directly from JET HOT and they ceramic coated them inside and out - total shipped was around $550. Welding the o2 bungs in is extra and if you're not having the headers coated you can just take them to an exhaust shop later and have the bungs welded in. If you're going to have the headers coated you'll want the bungs welded in first. I highly recomend having the headers ceramic coated.

there is a nice how to for the 2151 install around here that Victor Russell did I'll dig up the link I think it's in C4 tech tips

since you're in AZ you might not need to do the heated o2's there are just problems getting the other o2's up to temp in the colder states after moving them away from the primaries

here is the 2151 install: https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...=271&TopicID=2

and here is the heated o2 install: https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=93&TopicID=2

I think there might be some more current info on the heated o2 install using GM parts

Thanks toy. I always try to link em to the thread so it will show pics:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ooker+2151%27s

EDIT: Unfortunatly photohost.org is down so my pics aren't coming up

Thats all about the 2151 which is a L98 header which fits great on the LT-1. Yes you have to do some stuff with the EGR/AIR system. Also have to weld in the O2 bungs. I have heard of some people installing their own EGR?AIR bungs and it worked fine. Remember getting rid of EGR/AIR effects emissions so you need to understand your local emissions testing laws in your state.

PM me if you have any questions. Do not let them put shorties on your car!!! They are a waste.

Thanks guys I appreciate the help and the install link was great. I talked to the guys at Hookers and they didnt help that much. The bottom line is that I dont feel confident in the mechanic who was going to do the job. He hasnt done this install before and I dont want to be his guinnie pig. I will save up for a set of EM headers and have the boys over there install them since I live about 10min away. Again thanks for the help

Thats probably the best bet. The Hookers are really best for a Do it yourselfer on a budget. Exotic Muscle Long tubes are an excellent, easy choice.
