I had mine made up at a local muffler shop. Used the OEM tips, and it came out well.

I got the Mid-America ones, but not soon after the mount broke.

If I had to do it again, I'd just take it to a shop and have them straight pipe it, with either the stock tips, or you choice of tips.

Ditto, go to your local muffer shop and get them done for less than ordering a piece of pipe from a corvette specialty place.

After many hours reading all the posts on exhaust, I took the 2 step approach. First I went to my muffler place and had them take off the mufflers and replace with straight pipes and put the great tips back.
Then I drove it expecting to return later, step 2, to add some type of performance muffler.
Guess what?
Step 2 not needed. The vette sounds great, my wife and I can have a normal conversation unless I nail it and even then it's not overly loud. Just real nice and much added power.
All the brain damage trying to decide was well worth it. Thanks all.

Is that a Coupe or Convertible? My 6spd had very nasty resonance at between 1200 and 2200 rpm w/ the elims. I can handle some, but man, after a 30 min ride on the interstate, my ears were just not confortable.

I changed to a Power Effects exhaust, and that is marginally better.

I. too. did the muffler elim thing, from MAD, just to try it out until I got my B&Bs. I liked it so much I kept them on for almost a year. I have a vert and noise wasn't too much of a problem unless I took a long trip. My radio was not used very much. Yes, it was loud. I even had a cop pull me over and he wanted to know what exhaust I had as it sounded so good. Come to find out he had a 94 Vette and wanted the same sound.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I'm gonna pick up some 3" pipe and do the hack and weld thing next week sometime. I won't know how it sounds till spring, but I won't have those HP robbing mufflers in the way.

I purchased a pair from ladyvetter@aol.com. Nice craftsmanship. Solid mounting points (uses original hardware). I got the stainless tip model (a la C5). The noise is not bad; rumbles through the neighborhood; definitely can't sneak around now...
