What's the difference from between these shift kits??
I am looking to purchase a Transgo shift kit for my 86 with 700r4. I have seen the Transgo shift kit, and the Transgo Reprogramming kit. What is the difference? The reprogramming kit is about $30 cheaper than the shift kit, yet the shift kit comes with a video. Thanks!
reprogramming sounds electronic... and your transmission isn't electronic.
But they make it for the 700R4. I figured it was a the same kit designed to be installed by professional shop, as where the other kit is more do-it-yourself friendly. Mayne I am wrong, but I figured I would find out. Thanks!
I can tell you that a shift kit requires some drilling of the valve body and plate = more permanent option. Not sure what the reprogrammer would do for it.
I used the reprogramming kit. Its not intended for DIY. Unless you have quite a bit of experience, I would STRONGLY recommend you buy the one with the video. The vid is well worth the extra $30.
