Nos or not?

a crate motor with nitrous is much cheaper in the short run, but I still favor a built engine as any problems can quickly hurt the head gaskets, blow a plenum ect.....
the nitrous kits ar much better and if you stay around 100 hp the stock engine shold live a long and happy life and you would likely be VERY happy with a 100 extra HP and torq feels like. it's a real kick.
up around 150 you really need to upgrade the fuel system and pay attention to a good dyno tune as you are reaching the hp limits.
I would buy the short block and do a nice nitrous kit for the nice bump in power for least bucks,
refills start to add up and if you use the engine on nitrous alot it accelerates the wear. keep on top of the nitrous system maintenance and you should be fine.
I favor the blower because you are ready anytime and don't have to hassle with running out of the giggle gas. nitrous isn't that great for a high speed long duration pull.

new motor? Why? I have an LT1 w/ only 24k miles.
Supercharge an LT1 I would not.
The crank does not have a key way to hold the balancer in place and everyone I know that has tried has tire and belt problems.
Throws the belt off the engine.
I run a 125 shot of nitrous and have for over a year and a half.
I turn low to mid 11's.
This is my 94 vert.
Barry Grant has a very good lt1 kit and I like playing with the computer .
You will need drag radials to keep the car on the track and the investment will be about 1500.00 if you do it right.
A supercharger will be about 7,000 when you are done.
Remember you have powder rods and hypertech pistons not a very strong bottom end.
I would run the nitrous.
Turn it on when you want and turn it off when you want does not interfear with the driveability of the car at all when not used.
Iwould check this link out and read a little about nitrous http://www.idavette.net/techno.htm
