Please help me pick a good alarm system for my convertible. I think a motion sensor type system is a good choice for the convertible. Your thoughts?
PS I still work for a living...Damn it.
I had an AVITAL 2200 installed on my 87-love it, low and high impacts, recorded-of course the alarm sounds with high impact, all the remote features-some I chose not to have added-like remote start and remote windows. Personally I wouldn't want motion detection on my alarm-to many things could set it off. Bought and had it installed at Best Buy for around $250. Also there is a back up battery installed w/ this system.
I know I am going to get flamed for this, but I had Circuit City install a hybrid system many, many years ago. They did a wonderful job. Took them almost 10 hours, but the installation was included (special sale at the time). It was a Viper system with a Clifford motion sensor. Never has given me any problems.
It is great for a vert. They mounted the motion sensor inside the console. There is a little adjustment LED thingy that let's you easily adjust the sensitivity both inside and outside the car.
Works great in a vert. If you reach in while the top is down, it goes off!
I am sure that there is better technology now that what I have as this was installed over 6 years ago.
