Nice Catback...Whats the best
i luv the sound of my Flowmaster catback, I gained about 30CHP with my full exhaust including LT headers.
When you say "best" system, what do you mean? Do you mean best power gain, prettiest to look at, best sound?
Flowmaster is probably rated among the lowest as far as fit and finish / quality is concerned, but it has a sound that is hard to beat. Their cat-back systems are supposed to be pretty quiet inside the car, but they give up some outside. For the ultimate outside sound you don't buy the cat-back, you just buy a couple of 40 series flowmaster mufflers and have them installed in place of your stockers. That'll give you all the sound you ever want on the outside, but you'll pay for it on the inside with interior resonance.
B&B makes a very nice stainless system that is very pretty to look and and sounds pretty nice. You just pay for it $$$ I'm not so sure on interior resonance.
Corsa has the best reputation for decreased interior resonance, but you pay for it dearly. You pay for it in $$$ and you pay for it on exterior sound. Although most people who own the Corsa swear it sounds great, there are some people (myself included), who thinks the system sounds horrible. Oh it's pretty to look at, but for that kind of money the sound pleasure just isn't there for me.
As such since everybody's opinion of what sounds good is different, the best advice we can give you is to listen to as many different systems as you can and draw conclusions from there.
As for the performance aspect of it? Everybody's cat-back pretty much performs the same so don't let that persuade you. You're looking for sound and visual appeal more than anything.

I prefer Power Effects, but good luck finding any now.
B&B is loud, Borla is something i like, Flowmaster is good, but they'll all resonate a little--to alot. Corsa is the only one that doesnt, but its not available for L98, youll have to buy it and have it welded up.

I have the Corsa, and I like it very much. However, the main goal for me was interior resonance reduction.
I have listened to Magnaflow. It sounds nice, but I don't have any comment about resonance. We were at WOT.

I read here somewhere on the forum, that the B&B system is prone to cracking and such. Odd.
Borla is nicely made, no doubt, but I have heard a number of people comment that is loud.
I suggest you track down people in your area with various different exhaust systems. Listen, take a ride. Make your call.
My requirements are different than those of others. I have VERY sensative hearing. I can pick up noises that others cannot. And if the sound is too much, it will give me a migrane.
According to my pediatrian (this was diagnosed when I was a boy), most ear canals are at about 10* angle, my ear canals are at about a 40* angle!!!! I had more ear infections as a kid... and I can walk into a room full of TVs and tell you which one is gonna blow first. Same with old school computer monitors (I was right more than once in college!). I have learned not to expose my hearing to bad things... so after a short trial with elims, I quickly went to the Corsa.
The factory system boomed... the elims were just too damned loud (and boomy as hell) and if the Corsas didn't fix it, I was going to have to consider selling the Vette... and I didn't want to do that. Thank goodness the Corsas fixed it for me.

Has a loud enough crack at WOT, that I was able to put a horse down that was by the road. He wound up on his back with his legs in the air.
Does anybody know if there's a big difference in sound between the stock cat and a high flow unit?
my hearing is annoying at times... it can pick up things most others can't... In a full room, I can pick up a conversation and actually hear it. Who the hell needs those clever bugs!!!
I am also very careful with it... I so enjoy quality audio (and that is why, actually, I found cheap audio gives me a headache) that I don't want to lose it...

Here are a few clips of muff elims,Corsa and stock.

I don't have any Borla,Flowmaster or Magnaflow, but they all have their unique sound as well.
The sound may suck (I don't think it does), $700 for a full 304 stainless system that goes on perfect isn't "pay(ing) for it in $$$".
