Default Wheel and Tire help

I just purchased a 1990 rag top. All original but needs a little tlc. The original wheels are bad, I need to have them stripped and repained. I have just purchased a nice set of collector addition wheels from a later model. (not sure what year) My stock tires are 275 17 x 8.5 I believe, all the way around. The new wheels are 17 x 8.5 in front and 17 x 9.5 in rear, I think

My questions are.
1. Are my dimensions corect?
2. Will the 9.5 s fit my 1990 car?
3. Can I use my old tires on the wider back wheel, 275's on a 9.5 wheel.
4. If not what size and brand tires should I use, car is daily driver, cheep good tire should be fine I guess.
5. Hears the good one, My car is Green (hey it was a good price and I like green) I plan to have a friend who owns a powder coating bussiness paint them. What color whould look good on a green car?

Thanks
cal

My questions are.
1. Are my dimensions corect? You should have 9½ in the rear at least
2. Will the 9.5 s fit my 1990 car? yes
3. Can I use my old tires on the wider back wheel, 275's on a 9.5 wheel. Yes... stock on the 9½ was 285\40
4. If not what size and brand tires should I use, car is daily driver, cheep good tire should be fine I guess.
5. Hears the good one, My car is Green (hey it was a good price and I like green) I plan to have a friend who owns a powder coating bussiness paint them. What color whould look good on a green car? Chrome\Silver looks great in my opinion. If you wanted to get real crazy... you can shoot them read for the holiday!!!

My '89 has 9.5" wheels with 56mm offset all the way around. The 275/40zr17 were stock tires for these wheels. I would recommend BF Goodrich for an all around good tire. 285 / 40 would be the largest tire I would try to go with for a 9.5" wheel.

Good Luck. Green is a good color.

1990 wheels were 17x9.5" on all four corners. The only tire size offered (except for the ZR-1) was a 275/40ZR-17.

The 285 rear tire did not show up until GM changed to a 8.5" wide front wheel in 1993. The new front wheel was 8.5" wide and the tire was a 255/45ZR-17. The rear wheel remained at 17x9.5". This change was done to help resolve problems encountered with "tracking" when wide tires would tend to follow ruts in pavement. This tire/wheel combination continued through 1996. The 96 Grand Sport coupes got an 11x17 rear wheel with slightly diffeent offset than the ZR-1 wheels. GS verts got 17x9.5's and 275/40 tires. The Collector Edition wheels abd tires are the same size as the standard wheels and tires.

Coupes that were equipped with the optional Z07 performance suspension package got 17x9.5 wheels and 275/40ZR-17 tires on all corners. Z07 was not available on verts.
